The trip from Kisumu to Kochia, where we are going to stay for the next 10 days, is a ride deeper into memory. I feel as though I am moving back in time, for the amazing thing is not how much this part of Kenya has changed, but how much has not changed. Rondevals, women carrying baskets on their heads, goats and cows in the road and the red, red soil. Other buses pass us by, carrying sheep and chickens in the racks on top of the chassis and children wave from the side of the road.
